Ethnoracial differences in vascular health, cognitive, and psychological Lead Investigator: Zarina Kraal Institution : University of Michigan E-Mail : azkraal@med.umich.edu Proposal ID : 782 Proposal Description: Vascular risk factors and cardiovascular disease are thought to contribute to cognitive decline and dementia. Additionally, symptoms of depression are hypothesized to worsen vascular and cognitive function. However, less is known about ethnoracial differences in vascular health, cognitive decline, and psychological functioning in the context of aging and dementia risk. Clarifying these relations may contribute to better, more personalized prevention and intervention strategies for cognitive decline and dementia. The objectives of this study are to examine 1) the relationships between vascular health, cognitive, and psychological functioning, and 2) ethnoracial differences in those relationships in older individuals.
